Salary: Grade 13 Spinal Points 17-21

Hours of work: 35-hours per week, 38 weeks per year

West Monkton Primary is currently looking for an enthusiastic Kitchen Manager / Cook to join our team from September 2018.  This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to manage a brand new project with catering moving to in-house production from September 2018.  Meals are currently regenerated onsite through an outsourced catering provider.

We are looking for an organised, positive, passionate individual with an enthusiasm for great food and promoting a healthy lifestyle.  Experience of working within a commercial context is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities:

  • To manage, organise and supervise the catering facilities at the school in accordance with the standards required by the Senior Management Team, Governing Body and all other key stakeholders.
  • To be responsible for the preparation, cooking and service of food and for standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
  • To ensure efficient and economic use of all resources within the catering operation at the school.
  • To successfully engage all school stakeholders and engage pupil / staff meals per day.

Requirements:

  • Educated to 4 GCSE’s or above including English and Maths
  • Level 3 NVQ qualification or equivalent
  • Excellent craft skills background
  • Successful progressive background in catering (preferably commercial)
  • Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene or above
  • Strong Supervisory experience
  • Ability to display a real passion for food and customer service
